Huawei P20, P20 Plus to be unveiled on March 27, invite hints at triple camera setup

first_imgOver the past few weeks, rumours have been pouring in about Huawei unveiling the P20-series on March 27. The upcoming series is tipped to include the P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite that will succeed the P10-series. Notably, the first two have been rumoured to sport a triple camera setup, which Huawei has seemingly confirmed in the invite that is being sent out to the media. The invite also confirms that the company will be holding an event on March 27 in Paris, France. The invitation being sent out shows the Eiffel Tower in the background with three circles translucent circles over it, which is very suggestive of the three camera lenses that will be seen on the back of the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus. The invite also features a tagline, See mooore with AI, where the three os further emphases the triple camera setup. The AI part of the tagline most refers to the company’s Kirin 970 chipset which comes with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit that is designed as an AI accelerator. All three P20 smartphones are expected to be powered by the Kirin 970 chipset. As far as the triple camera setup is concerned, past rumours and leaked images suggest that cameras will be placed vertically on the top corner on the back alongside a dual-LED flash. The third camera is expected to offer 5X hybrid zoom. The front of the P20 is tipped to sport a 24-megapixel dual camera setup along with the company’s own facial recognition system that is set to be 10 times more accurate than Apple’s Face ID.advertisementThe Huawei P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite are all expected to sport edge-to-edge displays with a notch cut out similar to the iPhone X. Much like Apples latest iPhone, the notch on the P20 will house the cameras, earpiece and various sensors for facial recognition. The P20 Lite was recently certified by FCC where its schematics suggests that it could feature a 6.1-inch (1080×2280) display with an unconventionally long 19:9 display. The schematics further notes that P20 Lite will measure 148x70mm. The phone will likely bear a dual rear camera setup and will house a 2900mAh battery.Huawei has also confirmed its presence at the MWC 2018 later this month. The company is expected to announce a few new products that could include a new Mediapad tablet, Huawei Pay and a successor to the Huawei Watch 2. Nothing has been confirmed as of now so we will have to wait until the end of the month to find out what Huawei has in store for us.ALSO READ: Huawei P20 may come with triple camera setup, Android 8.1 Oreo and iPhone X-like notch<br />last_img
