first_imgFollowing Friday’s draw, Celtic manager Deila had initially said that he agreed with Thomson’s decision to send the player off, saying he had watched a replay.However, Deila changed his stance over the weekend, saying that after repeated viewing he felt the player had won the ball and should not have been dismissed Dedryck Boyata has been unsuccessful in his attempt to have his sending off against Hamilton overturned on appeal.Boyata was sent off by referee Craig Thomson for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity when judged to have fouled Carlton Morris during the 1-1 draw at New Douglas Park on Friday.Celtic appealed the decision and an independent panel was convened by the Scottish FA on Thursday. The panel ruled that Thomson’s decision was correct and the one-match suspension should stand.Boyata will be free to play in this weekend’s Scottish Cup match against Morton since the suspension does not carry across competitions. He will sit out the Premiership match against Partick Thistle at Firhill on March 12.last_img
