DEAL CLOSE? Euro 2016 winner ‘confirms’ transfer as Leicester chase £55m duo

first_imgLeicester are closing in on completing a £55 million double deal, with Sporting CP midfielder Adrien Silva ‘confirming’ he has accepted a move to the King Power Stadium. The 27-year-old Portugal international, who was part of the squad which won Euro 2016, has been linked with a transfer to the Foxes, along with Sporting teammate Islam Slimani. The duo are reported to be available for a combined £55 million fee, and it appears as if one half of the deal has been completed.Silva, speaking to O Jogo in his homeland, admitted he had accepted the proposal from Claudio Ranieri’s men, with the move to the Premier League set to be confirmed in the coming days.He said: “Yes, I confirm this proposal. Leicester is very interesting and corresponds to my career goals.“After the past 15 years at Sporting, this opportunity is something exceptional for me and can allow me to express and impose myself in another championship, and also to evolve in the Premier League, which is a stunning league.“I love Sporting as a family and I dedicated myself to the club since I was 12 years old.“With Sporting I lived many moments of happiness. I can say that I grew up with the club. At 27 years old, and after so many years of loyalty, I think that no one will criticise me for wanting to embrace this challenge.”The signing of Slimani, scorer of 48 goals in 82 games for the Liga NOS club, is still not completed, although the Foxes have reportedly agreed to pay the £34 million fee for him, and the striker left the pitch in tears at the end of Sporting’s derby win over Porto on Sunday. 1 Adrien Silva has scored one goal in three games this season last_img
