Its disappointing they’re playing sports. All over town i see Lack of judgment. The golf course, the the bars, the restaurants it’s so sickening. Do you people not care about this virus!?? SHUT IT ALL DOWN!! Report Reply 0 replies · active 1 week ago -3 Vote up Vote down Robert · 1 week ago Is it not amazing that Wellington schools look for reasons to be out of school such as in services that are bogus. Yet a PANDEMIC is stomping its way across the state and hey, Wellington, the community that has shown via city council and county commissioners, we don’t care how many people die, are also going to be reckless with our children’s lives as well. I am ashamed to be a Hellington resident. What has happened to this community? We don’t even pay attention to the healthcare professionals that tell us gatherings are where the biggest spreading begins. We need to shut everything down as we did earlier this year or we will never be able to get a grip on this VIRUS. DOWN WITH TRUMP!!! Report Reply +2 Vote up Vote down look out of the box · 1 week ago Send the kids to school, we are doing more harm by not letting them go. Quit all the scare tactics and let them go. If you don’t want your kid to go then stay home with your kid, but those of us that want our kids back in school all day for the mental, social and learning so have that right. They can do it safely. As a former teacher and the teachers I talk to their ready to go back to in class except for a couple that are not wanting to teach in class. Their not getting an education by staying home, look at last spring , there was no accountability. Oh you can just have your same grade the rest f the year. But the group will hold a work session on August 10 to fine-tune the plan that provides in-person and 100 percent virtual options. See the summary of the plan here. Also, the board approved moving the start date of school to Sept. 8 taking the recommendation of the local health officials. Wellington Superintendent Adam Hatfield said health officials advised him that the delayed start would allow enough time for some of the current local incubation periods to pass.“This means that starting after Labor Day provides less of a chance that the start of school would be directly connected to a trend upwards in Wellington cases,” Hatfield said.In other school board news… •Upon the recommendation of Curriculum Director Dr. Jennifer Kern, a WHS social studies program will be expanded to include electives: civics, economics, current events, sociology, and government.
